Today I’m reviewing 2 books by this “Simon”. Simon shows two warning signs: he appears to have little real expertise, and he seems more interested in selling products than in providing a useful service. I also note that he appears to be trying to rebrand as “Saymon”, maybe to distance himself from his previous drivel?
Business for Magic runs 72 pages, but the large font and generous white space mean each page holds only about 50 words. A big share of the content is spent pitching another of his books or a paid service, often for things he could have simply taught you to do yourself. It reads like an upsell funnel for consulting fees.
He also describes problems in specific detail but stays vague when it comes to solutions. That imbalance is a common sign of someone who lacks hands-on experience in the subject.
My suggestion? Buy Sidney Friedman’s The Rocket for real content by someone who clearly works for a living.
Hipnotized appears to be “Simon” trying to teach something he’s barely tried himself. The same symptom of large fonts and white space is there and he spends far too much of the book talking about himself instead of hypnosis. He also seems to be trying to create his own definition of hypnosis, hence “hipnotized”, so that he doesn’t have to face scrutiny on how unknowledgeable he actually is.
There are far better books on hypnosis than Simon is trying to sell for $20.
